Getting Here by Air
Antigua is home to the V. C. Bird International Airport, allowing major airlines to fly in and out regularly. With no ferries or other travel required, close your eyes when you take a flight and wake up in the Caribbean.
You can fly directly to Antigua from major cities such as Toronto, Miami, New York, and London or with the addition of a short stop. Flying to Antigua from wherever is most convenient for you.

Passport Requirements
Passports are required. We strongly recommend that all guests travel with a passport validity date of at least six months past the date of departure from the island and check specific country of origin requirements. For information on obtaining or renewing a US passport, please visit the US Department of State. For information on UK passports, visit the HM Passport Office. Passports are the most expeditious and reliable form of identification when traveling internationally.
Gratuities
We recommend that all guests prepare or allocate 10-15% for gratuities, depending on the services provided. On average, that equates to 50 cents per bag for porters and bellhops, and taxi drivers 10-15% of the fare.
Credit Cards
Accepted: Visa and MasterCard.
Due to ongoing issues with American Express and Diners credit card processing, please be advised that until further notice, American Express and Diners (AMEX and Diners) credit cards cannot be used to pay local charges and/or incidentals at the hotel.

Calling the US is easy from Antigua. Our hotel offers US Direct calling service or ask us how you can connect with a US operator during your stay.

Departure tax is included in your airfare.
Electricity
The Hotel predominantly uses US standard 110V outlets.
Appropriate Attire
We like to use the term: “Elegantly Casual.”
Beach attire, such as bathing suits, cover-ups, and towels, is appropriate for the beach, but not while in town, shops, or restaurants. Most restaurants stipulate collared shirts and long pants for men and pant suits or dresses for women in the evening.
Time Zone
Antigua is in the Atlantic Standard Time zone, which is one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time and the same as Eastern Daylight Time. Atlantic Standard Time is four hours behind GMT.
Currency
The official currency of Antigua is the Eastern Caribbean dollar which is fixed to the US dollar.

Medical Facilities
There are several general practitioners and specialists on the island as well as a hospital and private clinics. If needed, recompression chambers are available by air ambulance at nearby Saba and in St. Thomas. Pharmaceutical services are also widely available.

Personal Safety
Antigua is relatively crime free, but we recommend that all guests exercise normal precautions, i.e., don’t leave valuables unattended in rental cars or on the beach. Place your valuables and travel documents in your room safe. Keep your guest room doors and windows locked, especially at night and when you are not in the room.
General Shopping
For all your grocery, pharmacy, personal items, and miscellaneous needs, there are many supermarkets available on the island and in English Harbor area. Ask at the Front Desk.
Illness & Allergies
The Hotel is located in a tropical environment. Although the hotel does engage a year-round pest control service company, the hotel, its owners, employees, agents, insurers, and suppliers shall absolutely not be liable for any claim, injury, or illness resulting from exposure to Zika virus, Chikungunya virus, or any other insect-borne virus or tropical illness whatsoever.
The hotel’s food and beverage outlets use wholesome ingredients, which may include peanuts, tree nuts, seeds, shellfish, shrimp, seafood, soy, milk, wheat, and other potential allergens. Due to the large scale of the hotel’s food and beverage operations, the hotel cannot guarantee that food items will not come in contact with potential allergens, even if a particular food does not normally include such ingredients. Guests with food allergies or dietary restrictions should be advised accordingly and take precautions. The hotel is not able to accommodate individually tailored meals for specific guests based on their individual dietary needs. The hotel and its owners, employees, agents, insurers, and suppliers shall absolutely not be liable for any claim, injury, or illness resulting from food allergies or specific dietary needs or requirements.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does the hotel charge a Hotel Fee?
Yes, a Hotel Fee of US$24 per room, per night applies to all bookings. The Hotel Fee is payable locally at the Hotel and includes wi-fi.
In the event of a hurricane, what happens to my reservation?
In the event of a hurricane or other natural disaster, the hotel reserves the right to cancel or reschedule reservations and will provide a full refund.
Can I have room service?
Room service is available upon request.
Do I need a passport to travel to Antigua?
We strongly recommend that all members of your party travel with a passport with a validity date of at least six months past the date of your departure from the island. As of December 31, 2005, a passport will be required for all US and Canadian citizens to travel to the Caribbean. For information on obtaining or renewing a passport please go to: //travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html. In our current times, passports are the most expeditious and reliable form of identification when traveling domestically or internationally.
How far away are you from the airport?
We are approximately 30 minutes from the airport.
Can my room be upgraded?
Upgrades are based on availability and may be included in some packages; otherwise, inquiries can be made at the reception of the hotel upon arrival. There is an extra fee per night for room upgrades.
Is internet access available?
Yes, Wi-Fi internet access is included in the hotel fee and is available in the lobby and in-room.
Is there an ATM at the hotel?
No. There is an ATM at the entrance of Nelson’s Dockyard National Park, a mere 5-minute walking.
What is the capacity of each room category?
The Contemporary Suite at Copper and Lumber Store Hotel offers guests a luxurious and comfortable stay in the heart of historic Antigua’s National Park, Nelson’s Dockyard. Features one queen bed and one sofa bed and sleeps 4 comfortably and is spread out over two levels.
The Contemporary Studio at Copper and Lumber Store Hotel offers a stylish and comfortable stay in Antigua’s historic Nelson’s Dockyard. With a cozy queen-sized bed, it sleeps two comfortably. This studio is perfect for solo travelers or couples.
The Georgian Suite at Copper and Lumber Store Hotel offers a luxurious and elegant experience in historic Nelson’s Dockyard. Featuring a comfortable king-sized bed, and one sofa bed, a separate living area, with harbor views, and a fully equipped kitchenette. This suite is perfect for couples or families and is spread out over two levels.
The Georgian Studio at Copper and Lumber Store Hotel offers a comfortable and sophisticated stay in historic Nelson’s Dockyard. Featuring a cozy queen-sized bed, kitchenette, and private balcony with harbor view. This studio is perfect for couples or solo travelers.
Rollaway beds are available upon request and at an additional charge.
Do you provide cribs?
Cribs are available upon request at no charge.
Do you have rooms for disabled people?
Fully modified disabled rooms, such as you may find in the United States, are not available. However, some areas and facilities at the resort may not be accessible to disabled persons.
Are non-smoking rooms available?
All rooms are non-smoking.
What are the telephone charges to dial internationally?
A connection charge of $3(USD) will be charged to your room. Calls to the US AND UK are approximately $15(USD) for the first 5 minutes, and approx. $5(USD) per minutes after.
Rates may be subject to change.
Does my room have a fridge?
All rooms have a mini refrigerator in them. They do not come stocked.
Are there hairdryers, irons, and ironing boards in the rooms?
Hair dryers are provided in every room. Ironing boards and irons are available in all rooms.
Are there telephones in the rooms?
All guest rooms have direct-dial telephones with worldwide service. Complete telephone and fax services are available at the hotel.
Do the rooms have ceiling fans?
Yes, all rooms have ceiling fans.
Does the resort provide a laundry service for guests?
Yes, this service is at an additional charge.
What is the voltage in Antigua?
The voltages are 110v and 220v.
Is use of the in-room safe included?
Yes, it is. The safe key and lock will be handed to you upon check-in.
Can I drink tap water?
Yes – tap water is safe to drink, however we recommend bottled water. Bottled water is available, however, is not included in room charges.
Do I have to make reservations at the restaurant?
Reservations are encouraged and can be made 24hrs in advance at the Front Desk. Menus are posted both at Restaurant and Pub.
What is the dress code at restaurants?
a ‘Summer Casual’ dress code for lunch & evening dining will apply.
Ripped Jeans, Flip Flops, all Beachwear, T-shirt’s and Trainers are not considered ‘Summer Casual’.
Do you provide snacks between meals?
The Mainbrace Pub offers snacks from 10:00 a.m. to 4pm.
Do you cater to vegetarians and vegans?
We offer a wide variety of menu and dining choices, which include some vegetable and vegetarian dishes. However, our vegetable and vegetarian dishes may include ingredients that are not vegan, as we do not cater specifically to a vegan diet. If you require something specific, you may request to speak with the chef to see what can be arranged.
I have a restricted diet due to allergies. Will I be limited to the meals on the menus?
We frequently receive questions regarding special dietary needs, restrictions, or preferences. We do offer a wide variety of meal choices, which includes salads, fresh fruits and vegetables, and vegetarian options. However, we are not able to cater to specific individual needs such as vegan, gluten free, allergen free, religious observance, or similar custom-made dishes.
Do you have children’s menus?
Yes, our Kids menu is available in the restaurants.
Are all meals buffet?
No! We offer a full-scale break and lunch menu that has something for everyone.
Is there a surcharge to dine at the restaurant?
Yes. With most room categories you book, breakfast is included. Lunch and dinner carry additional costs.
If my flight gets in late, is there a place to get some food?
Should you arrive at the hotel after mealtimes you can ask at the Front Desk, and something will be arranged for you.
When is the Manager’s Cocktail Party?
We do not offer a Manager’s Cocktail Party, however every Friday night we host our feature event on the Lawn of the hotel, Seafood Fridays. It’s one you cannot miss.
Is babysitting available?
No. But you can inquire at the Front Desk about services offered in the area.
How far is it to the nearest shopping area?
The hotel is located in English Harbor which a hub of activities and shopping you can access by walking or driving.
Is there a gift shop at the Hotel?
No! But there is one right across the street.
Are there any nice restaurants located near the Hotel?
There is a great selection of restaurants in and around English Harbor. The cost of a taxi is US$30 round trip.
Are beach towels provided?
Yes, beach towels are provided for your convenience.
Is golf included in the package?
Golf is not included. Golf clubs are not available at the hotel. There are two golf courses available. Please speak with a Front Desk agent.
Do you provide a shuttle into town?
Daily shuttles to the capital city, St. John’s, are available Monday – Friday except Sundays & public holiday for a small fee. Shuttles are also available on Sundays for visits to Shirley Heights.
Can I rent a car?
Speak with a Front Desk agent to connect you with a rental agency. Daily rates start at approximately US$55.
Can I use a US driver’s license?
No, you’ll need to buy a local driving permit for US$20.
Can I book tours & excursions from your hotel?
Yes, the Front Desk agent at the hotel is where you can book any excursion in Antigua.
Do you have valet or self-parking?
Two parking lots are available for self-parking.
Can you arrange day tours and excursions?
Absolutely! We have a wide range of excursions available. The Front Desk agent will provide all the information you need and will reserve the trips for you.
Are there ferries or excursions to other islands?
There are many excursions and boat tours to neighboring islands such as Barbuda and Montserrat.
Is horseback riding available?
Not directly from the hotel, however, the Front Desk agent will provide all the information you need.
Do you arrange transportation to nearby churches on Sundays?
The Front Desk agent will be happy to arrange this for you at a cost.
What services does your beauty salon/spa offer?
There is no beauty salon/spa at the hotel.
Where can I find groceries and general shopping needs in Antigua?
English Harbor is a hub of shopping activities. There are many large and small supermarkets in Antigua. The is a small superette within walking distance from the hotel.

What is required at check-in?
At check-in, guests are required to present valid government-issued identification (passport, driver’s license, ID card) along with a valid major credit card. This helps us confirm your arrival and helps protect our guests by assisting with our fraud prevention measures. At check-in, a US$350 pre-authorization will be processed on your card to cover any incidental purchases or similar expenses. Incidental purchases may include things like tours, excursions, and dining in our restaurant. We understand that not all guests incur additional charges during their stay, but this process assists the hotel with fraud prevention. The pre-authorization is released at check-out, assuming you have not charged any purchases to your room.
How can I book airport transfers?
The Copper and Lumber Store Hotel does not service airport transfers. However, if you do not already have prearranged airport transfers, no need to worry, we have some options for you. Airport transfers can be prearranged with Front Desk agents for those guests that have booked directly with us.
Private transfers can be arranged through National Tours at an additional cost of US$55.00 one way or US$110.00 returned and this is based on two people sharing.
